As you can see from the photo above (courtesy of Syd Byer), it would appear that the spirits of Nantucket are not pleased that they will no longer be gaining attention every night during summer. They appear to be causing the flames of damnation to arise around me on my last tour in an effort to condemn me for leaving my birthplace to move onto bigger and better things. Sadly though, there is a simple formula to my leaving the island: Ridicule + torment + closed minds from town offices + mindless hecklers = insane amounts of stress and a need to move on. As it is, I am certain that Nantucket is not ready for me or my tour. Since The Nantucket Haunted Hike is now out of business, we DO NOT endorse any ghost tours on Nantucket, nor do we recommend attending them, especially Ed (Niskern) Starbuck's "Original" Ghost Tour. If you feel like getting ripped off by the town drunk, go for it. If you want a quality ghost tour, there are none left on the island.
The truth be known, in the four years I have performed for you all, I have come to appreciate those who return over and over and those that might have only made the tour once. Having seen that the range of appreciation goes from, "It was scary," to "Holy Jesophaphat! Run for your life!" made me smile. Even one online reviewer of this tour said his sisters had joined me and they said the stories were not all that scary, "just disturbing," yet they couldn't sleep very well that night. If I managed to have that affect on just one person, then I did my job correctly.
So thank you all for joining me over the past four years. You have made The Nantucket Haunted Hike a delight to perform for you. I hope that if you come to Philadelphia, you might have the chance to stumble across me there on the Philadelphia Trolley Works and Big Bus Tour.
Adieu.
