Ofsted Inspection, May 2007
"a good and rapidly improving school"
The inspectors judged our school to be outstanding in two key areas:
-
How well we work in partnership with others to promote the wellbeing of our pupils.
-
The extent to which pupils make a positive contribution to the community.
"a significant improvement in standards since the last inspection"
"The school is rightly proud of its students' GCSE results in 2006 which exceeded their expectations and demonstrated that achievement is good across the school"
"Students make good progress because there is mutual respect between adults and youngsters and learning takes place in a calm atmosphere"
"It fosters excellent partnerships with other schools for the benefit of pupils yet to begin their secondary education"
"Students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good"
These are just some of the many positive quotes we could have chosen from our very succesful Ofsted inspection. A team of four inspectors visited our school. They visited lessons to observe teaching, had meetings with pupils, parents and staff, and scrutinized all of our paperwork and policies.
Here is what our Chair of Governors and the Headteacher had to say:
"We are delighted with this, our school’s most successful inspection report. Everyone connected with The Swinton High School should be justifiably proud of the very many achievements which have been recognised by the Ofsted inspectors. We see this Ofsted report as a key milestone in achieving our mission to move from a good school with some outstanding features into one with the highest possible overall judgement of outstanding in the next three years; this is because we continue to believe that our pupils deserve the best in every way. Rest assured that the staff and governing body are already taking bold steps to address our issues for action.
We commend this report to you all and wish you every success in our continued partnership."
Jacky Davies (Mrs), Chair of the Governing Body
John Biddlestone, Headteacher
