The increasing popularity of hand held devices as mobile computing and infotainment tools is chiefly due to the developments in wireless technology used to transmit data and information to and from computers. Mobile computing is dramatically changing our day-to-day lives, especially with the popularity of small devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and with the embedding of substantial processing capabilities in devices such as telephones and cameras. The key to the success of any PDA Design is efficient battery management and optimal utilization of MIPS and memory. Reducing the energy consumed in using these devices, thereby extending the lifetime of the batteries that power them is one of the major challenges in designing such systems.
Mistral's design team has extensive experience in hand-held devices and other low power applications. The growing demand for mobile computing saw Mistral introducing its PDA Reference Platform, a completely integrated and customizable PDA design. It is among the first PDA design to converge four RF modules in one design.
Other significant creations of Mistral include a reference MP3 Player design, which works for 22 hours non-stop on a single AA battery. Besides, our having built a niche for ourselves in the Embedded Systems market, we are today effectively addressing various needs of the handheld devices industry.
