Welcome to the 2007 programme of events
Exhilaration, imagination, inspiration - it is amazing what one green garden can contain. Welcome to our festival of open horizons and energising ideas, at the heart of Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature. In seventeen extraordinary days we have over 700 events for you to choose from, each one carefully created and programmed; we have over 600 authors from over 40 different countries.

Major themes
Events cover every kind of topic this year. Themes include Science, Poetry, Business Matters, Matters of The Mind, Focus On China, Focus On India, Nature and the Environment, Slavery Stories, Genes and Society, the return of our ever-popular Nations Unlimited and East and West series of events plus Writers of the World, Gaelic Culture, Education and much, much more. Events for teenagers
We have many more events for young teens (13+) and older teens (16+) this year including great debates with authors and experts on subjects such as terrorism, genetics and the future of Scotland. Top authors and illustrators talk about everything from how and why graphic novels are a universe unto themselves and why they deserve exploring further, and the difference between screenwriting and writing novels. Use the drop down 'Strand/Event Type' menu in our advanced search to find teen events. There are also plenty of events in the adult programme that may appeal to older teens too.
Events for children
Babies, toddlers and children of all ages can find something to see at the Book Festival. Interactive workshops, music and story sessions, events where you can discover amazing facts about outer space, ancient Rome, creepy creatures and the environment all feature. Use the drop down 'Strand/Event Type' menu in our advanced search to find events for children. You can also refine your search to events for a specific age group.
